The goal of this site is to gather and present scientific evidence to inform people's decisions about parenting and life in general. I firmly believe that important decisions should be based on data, but much of what is presented to the public (particularly through popular media sources) is misleading or outright wrong. Not everyone has the training or access necessary to read the original research that is published in journal articles; and, yet, these very articles provide invaluable data that could help guide the choices we make in day to day life. I have a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology, which includes extensive training in research methodology and statistics. Much of the research I present in this blog is research that I did to inform my own choices. Many posts will be related to parenting and will center on some decision that my husband and I had to make, such as whether to sleep train or how to introduce solids. Others will describe my broad views on baby-related topics, including product recommendations and general observations.
